Super Size Me

I choose the movie Super Size Me. I already seen it once in high school but I thought it would be interesting to analyze it and really see the harm that he's putting on his body. See when I first say the movie I was younger and hearing how someone could only eat McDonalds for a time period sounded wonderful to me. Let me back up, see I was raised by my grandmother and my mom who only believed in home cooked meals daily. I remember when getting a piece of gum was a treat for me. So can you even imagine how I felt to eat fast food. Okay so let's get back to the film, it was basically about a man going days only eating McDonalds food. The title comes from when they asked him if he wanted to "super size" he would have to say yes! It was interesting to see how he went from absolutely loving it to completely not wanting to see the McDonalds sign. He had to eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner and only that. We seen on camera how he got sick off of it and literally see his health decrease. In the beginning he went to 3 different doctors just to make sure he was in good shape before he began this process and all of them agreed he was fine. Unfortunately the food and his body did not mix very well. On camera we see him throwing up as he continues to have to consume the processed food day after day. We began to literally see the toll that McDonalds food places on people and how it isn't good for them at all.

I think of mcdonalds as a treat kinda like something you know your not suppose to eat but yet you find yourself in the drive thur-line. If you think about it, all the really good things to eat aren't really that good for you. People should treat fast food like a treat not depend on it for nourishment. I understand it's quick, fast and cheap but you have to think of how your body will react to it.

Now that I have gotten further into the book I cannot stop reading. I must say its a real page turner, I often find myself not wanting to stop reading! Now that I'm deeper into it, I've gotten pass all of the heart break from the animals and now I'm more focused on the issue at hand. After reading the beginning which didn't sugar coat a single word I've now come to the conclusion that this is how this book is! Let me be clear when I say I would never ever work at a slaughter house, so it bothers me how the workers did. They say the job was terrible, dangerous and stressful but I'm confused as to why they took the job in the first place. Obviously when your applying for a job you have a background on what the job entitles, with that being said why did they even applying? One of the employees even went to the major to complain, yet still worked there. The money that's what keeps them there is tells them that their job isn't so bad and that they can get through it. I get it, I know it's hard times and if it's paying you'll do it. However if your going to work there, why go to the major and complain about something that can get changed?

Slaughterhouse.

.
So I am an animal lover and of course reading this book broke my heart. I can believe how miss treated animals are just so humans can be satisfied. I make me wonder if the tables were turned would we all be so much against it. As horrible as it was to hear these things happening to the animals, I couldn’t stop reading. It opened my eyes to see that not only were the animals in dangerous situations, but also the workers. They were forced to put their lives out on the line each day. Please don’t get me wrong, I am a meat eater, maybe even a meat lover, but i will admit reading this has changed my views. Reading about all the injections that they put into the animals that we also intake as well makes you think if it’s really worth it. Let’s take a second to think. If the animals are being injection then killed, were eating their injected meat only to die later? This is sad. We see meat as nourishment so we kill animals to nourish ourselves when in reality buy killing them we are killing ourselves.

Down the street from my house I have a meat market; you can smell it from the parking lot. I remember going into one for the first time with my grandmother. I couldn’t believe how you just go in there get some meat and go home. It wasn’t real to me; i couldn’t understand how the workers wanted to touch it and couldn’t possibly understand why they wanted to sell it at that age. In the book Slaughterhouse people constantly complained, they even went to the major. Nobody wouldn’t do anything i couldn’t believe that. Even with the people dying.

Food Connection

My connection with food is a love hate relationship I love the intake not the physical damage. I don't have a problem buying it although I am very picky when it comes to certain kinds. Food is a relief for some and takes them to a happy place. Some just eat for nourishment and that's it. Me on the other hand, I eat what I crave even if it's healthy or not. See I was spoiled as a child so if dinner was being made and i didn’t want it, mom would simply make something else for me. I was never forced to eat food which I think later made me a better food lover. See I feel that when you are forced, you may start to not want it or even go without eating, which can lead to health problems. Then if your weren’t forced, then you could be over eating, which could also lead to health issues. There are isn’t really a specific way of how someone should get. You always have a skinny person saying you can do it, when they are clearly not understanding. So what do you do? I say do what makes you happy. If food bring you enjoyment why not? People over do everything. Some over clean, over study, over stress, over buy. But that’s considered "normal".

There are so many articles that talk about over eating and how people should just stop. This may be true but how can you just STOP somethign so easily. Its hard to give up something you love so much. Its so much easier said then done. People are always so qyick to say what they wouldnt do, but you dont really know beacuse its not YOU!
